Poetic Views of Life

Laurie Wilkinson warmly presents his first book of poems reflecting varied experiences of his life, embracing working in psychiatry, also practised in prisons, to adventurous travel and personal loss.
With a down to earth turn of phrase he tackles topics of betrayal, terror atrocities, domestic violence and death. For more light
hearted everyday observations a mischievous humour and stark expression power the observations home for readers.
The authors poems aim to entertain, possibly evoking emotions to cry, go aagghh, laugh, reflect and get angry. He believes any passion is better than joining the “shoulder shruggers” that life passes by.

Enjoy!

Return to Sender
The lonely man will sit and wait
For the world to come to him,
Thus he will never win a life
Not going out on a limb.
Nothing is gained unless you try
So best be prepared for pain,
But warn the private inner self
Of joy that you may gain.
So he will take the safest route
And none of himself will give,
Crying when its far too late
For a fulfilled life to live!
