Lift off then is the title of this my latest Blog for us, and while I always try to make the title relevant I I think that this title is right for many reasons, personal to me and perhaps life generally.
Readers of my previous Blogs will be aware of my total resentment of the repercussions socially of “Curse Covid” (see poem “Dying Breathes” further down), shared of course by most of the population, apart, from those folks already with a “just existing” outlook on life, and I don’t mean those unfortunates with little choice, although many of those sparkle in some way.
So, for me now the lift off is a feeling of delight at the publication of my 9th book in just over seven years, with my tenth book close on the heels of book nine, but more on that a bit later as many other events are “lifting off” for me…
The start of my poem “Born Anew” from my latest book seems appropriate here, and apologies for repeat….

Born Anew

I’m confronted by crossroads and junctions

When I would prefer one straight lane,

Because these various direction choices

Are not helping me much to stay sane.

For many ideas and choices avail me

Since I have left the clinging mire.

Leaving me in quite a bewilderment

As to what is now my heart’s desire.

Because I had spent so long battling

To be both caring and master of all,

And that is an almost impossible task

From which it’s so very easy to fall.

*

I mentioned a poem to remind us of what Curse Covid did, so from my latest book comes this poem…

Dying Breathes

Another day in a sort of living death

So you briefly wonder about taking breath,

To absorb and fight on another bland day

Like a child with their toys taken away.

For there are no excitements as before,

The thrill of a race, or what’s the score?

No social gatherings for a laugh or a joke

As pub and cafe closures start to choke,

Your beliefs in, or a fear of Covid 19

This silent killer so menacing and mean,

Sweeping in as some invisible tsunami

And making our whole world go barmy.

For there’s no normal life or apparent reason

To existing in an eternally dark, winter season,

With this constant eerie silence and deep fear

Of anything arriving or even coming near.

Thus a vast, psychotic paranoia now presides

With very little chance of leaving insides,

To where we have all been banished to serve

A suffocating sentence we didn’t deserve.

So say your prayers to any god or cause

Hoping for their mercy or even to pause,

An overwhelming depressive, restrictive state

Controlling thoughts and world with no date,

Of any relief from this actual hell on earth

Making us wish we’d not been given a birth.

As we buckle in our seats, and gird our loins,

For a ride no more certain than tossing coins.

For we are in unprecedented times and days

With everyone pleading that it no longer stays.

This horrid curse that’s never before been seen,

Presenting as a Devil’s work called Covid 19.

Well, there is a reminder to us all and why “I” and we, have Lift Off…

My news time then, and some good stuff happening!

My first article for the new free paper Hailsham News was very well received, and I’ve already sent my second piece in for later this month.

I have been offered and accepted some very interesting, lucrative and prestigious presentations to senior budget holders and planning people over the next three months, the first is in mid-November so watch this space.

Talking of presentations, I am again offered and accepted a guest slot on Hailsham FM with the excellent Simon Herbert. I was a regular on there before good old Curse Covid (again), and I’m on next on November the 6th at 11 am.

I think my tongue in cheek little ditty from my fourth book (full list at the end) is quite apt here. lol Keep OOoop!

Envy ?

Some people come, whilst others go

A few for reasons I don’t know,

Guess it was something I did or said,

That didn’t settle well in their head.

But meanwhile I will trek rhe road

So all are welcome with my load,

While I continue onward in life

Mostly wondrous, with little strife.

Thus I will offer a smile or joke,

But on this some seem to choke.

For I am not always like a saint,

And a colourful life I love and paint.

But do not worry if you fail to see,

That I’m always, and forever me!

Perhaps I should say at this time, Teerr Raaaaah (lol trumpets), that my BOOK TEN “Best of Humour”, title to yet be confirmed, is already with my brilliant Website Guru James Harvey, (he designed the excellent and well complimented already) cover on my latest book, photo included, and also my Publisher at Bad Goose Publishing, so YES that is my Book TEN aimed to be ready for my first of my BIG conferences, set for  November. yes, THIS NOVEMBER….

Lest I Stumble

Lest I stumble, should I fall

In lame attempt to do it all,

Please don’t think I’m contrite

As I only want to do it right.

So please help if I need a hand

And beg you to understand.

That I also have my weaker days

So no matter if it never stays,

Across my face, or in my voice

For it’s my committed choice.

To not advertise my grief and woe

As that is not the way I show,

Myself to all the outside world

If I’ve become a bit unfurled.

Thus lest I stumble, should I fall

Others may not care at all.

Which is why I’m asking you

To watch over me in all I do.

For though I wear a carefree smile,

I sometimes suffer for a while.

But always struggle on inside

While on the outside try to hide,

These inner battles you can’t see,

As they attempt to torment me.

So I think I’ve now spelt it out

How we can struggle with a doubt,

Of our abilities to cope with life

When worries cut us like a knife.

But have a comfort in what you do,

For I am always there for you.

Thus, go and make your world extend,

Knowing you have a special friend.

That poem is from my sixth book, again check my list at the end.

JOKE TIME:-

1) My mate’s dog isn’t well, hard to know HOW ill but he looks “ruff ruff”?

2) Two cows in a field and one discussing being scared of getting “Mad Cow Disease”, but the other said I’m not worried, I’m a helicopter….

3) Sadly, Mister Ben has passed away, so no more Mr Rice Guy

4) I went out early to catch some fog, but I mist!

Ok, ok ok, I’m a better poet then, and that apparently according to some stunning and glowing feedback from my live guest spot on the excellent Sylvie Blackmore show on BBC Radio Sussex & Surrey on September 10th, where apart from a lively chat with Sylvie I read out an already very popular poem from my 9th and latest book Our World in Verse, with poem entitled “Fish on a Bike”! Strange how you (“I”) seem to know when a poem is a bit extra special and shame it missed a couple of poem competitions, but no worries, but it seems alongside Sylvie literally applauding me “on air”, my longer interview was very well received, and also the mentions of the brilliant charity HELP for HEROES of course! Yeah, Nice One!

YUP, all together then lol, “I’m Often Imitated but NEVER Duplicated, and Double Yeah LIFTING OFF then, and like me perhaps, could it be magic?.

Ted n Beth are screaming for a mention, but YES, they will be accompanying me when I guest on Hailsham FM November 6th, so is that alright Henry The First?🐻🐻

Nearly done then and PHEW end of a very bust spell for me finishing and now promoting my Book 9, and completing and getting over to Publisher James Harvey my Book TEN, and then doing this Blog, bur again Thanks and BLESS you all for being there, so last poem and as seems usual now, (I know you’re checking me lol) a “Romance” poem called “Look Out” from my 9th and latest book! Another exclusive for you then,,,,,,

Look Out

You can’t look up as she walks by

For you know what you will see,

A probable vision of loveliness

That will attract both you and me.

But do not have guilty doubts

As most will feel just the same,

Though many try to subdue this

It is all part of life’s game.

Thus recognise and enjoy attraction

Because it surely goes both ways,

And whilst can cause complications

It usually brightens up our days,

As men and women aren’t meant to be

Lonely, separated, distant or apart.

Because one of the main joys in life

Is to have a happy, singing heart.

Now I do know there are doubters

As I can hear them very loud,

Deriding life’s pleasures and fun

Particularly in an agreeing crowd.

But I have a very confident feeling

That if I was to place a large bet,

Most people would want romance

As without they will feel regret.

So get out in the world and smile

For it will make your face light up,

And probably be returned by others

Who may award a romantic cup,

Because they may be smiling also

In attempt to raise their attraction.

And if you can get together on this

It could give mutual satisfaction.
