Well I guess "quiet" or "quieter" are not words normally synonymous with me, but hey ho, you can hope, but perhaps things may be somewhat duller, so I won’t be "quiet" for too long…
Actually I’m not quiet, but largely the week has, but of course NEVER totally uneventful in "Laurie Land" of my "poetry world" so let’s have a look!
Right for a start I have committed to having a stall on 11th March at an indoor market sort of event, where I will promote, collect and raise awareness of Help for Heroes whilst hopefully selling some of my books! Also I am now almost certain that on March 12th I will have some sort of "Book Signing/Promotion" event, but I need to confirm some things yet, so watch this space…
The stand out thing from this week, (I TOLD you it wasn’t totally quiet) is best presented as below…
For a nominal £1 entry fee they are inviting poems about entrants mothers to be submitted by 20th March with the winner (or 2 winners if applicable), to receive a bouquet of flowers that will be delivered (locally only) to their mum on Mothering Sunday!
I am honoured to have been asked to be the judge of the poems, which I have proudly accepted. I will also be donating a copy of one my 4 published books to two runner ups. Also Jo of Vines Flowers is kindly donating all £1.00 entrance fees to my supported charity Help for Heroes + any other money collected in a "wishing well" to be placed in shop to hold the entered poems. A win, win, win then !!!
Dwelling
The dwelling is totally dark
Every time that I pass by,
No lights are ever seen there
So I started to wonder why.
But the “for sale” sign gives a clue
And has been present for a while,
For I guess there are no takers
Queuing up in waiting file.
