Hitting targets then, and I must say that I am mega chuffed to have recently hit my target of raising £10,000 for Help for Heroes the excellent charity that cares for our wounded service personnel. I have always donated to, and promoted them, since my first book published just over ten years ago, so yes I’m really pleased and have a wonderful “thanks” certificate from Help for Heroes. £10,000 not too bad?
I will of course continue to fundraise for them and keep the charity in high profile, which I will mention after the first poem that is a bit tongue in cheek title as it is called “Ricochet”” and from my 6th book Poet Reveals All.
Ricochet
A ricochet is a rebound
Not arriving where intended,
Often hitting someone by mistake
And not so easily mended.
For the person hit or injured
Still feels the same pain,
As if they were aimed at
But are lucky they’re not slain.
So whether an actual missile
Or an angry spoken word,
Wasn’t meant for the victim
The suffering is real and heard.
For sadly in everyday lives
We get more than we can take,
So if we explode and lash out
Our outburst has no brake,
Should we see it’s badly aimed
And heading in a wrong direction.
Which causes distress and regret
At the lack of aimed perfection.
It can also be the same with love
And relationships on a rebound,
That is also a form of ricochet
If a true love isn’t found.
So it’s probably best to take time
And make certain our aim is sure,
Because even Cupid gets it wrong
Which can only lead to more,
Heartache, hurt and upset
Firing off without a thought.
Which causes pain and anguish
If careless revenge is sought.

Ricochet then, and certainly not my recent target hitting and successes, so what have I been up to?
Well, apart from my target reached for Help for Heroes, I am still ticking along nicely with my book sales, that all further donate to the charity, am doing more entertaining gigs, am on radio, Seahaven F M last week and others lined up, while I still write my monthly columns and poem corners in local newspapers and publication! Yup, get the word out as I’m still “Often Imitated but Never Duplicated” and all supporting Help for Heroes too.
Next poem now, and a very popular Ted & Beth poem at gigs entitled “Bears Empty Promise”..
Bears Empty Promise
Who’s been eating our porridge?
Ted n Beth would like to know,
When they come in for breakfast
After smelling food on the go.
But the porridge has all gone
The saucepan is scraped clean,
For though teddy noses smell it
There is nothing to be seen.
Only an empty dish and spoon
Still placed upon the table,
By another empty cookery jar
With “Porridge” spelt on the label.
This does not please our famous bears
Not one little bit at all,
For they’re just beginning to rue
Not getting up on their first call,
When they decided to lay back
And have another little sleep.
With no thought of repercussions
That now makes them weep.
For the breakfast cook has done
And won’t be making any more,
Of that delicious porridge
That most teddies will beg for.
And although the penny’s dropped
They should have jumped out of bed,
Their dad has scoffed the porridge
So they will go without instead.
But Ted n Beth have both learned
A precious lesson so sublime,
And will make sure they’re ready
For their breakfast the next time!

I should add after that poem, written about nine years ago, that I had to write and add the last verse as I didn’t want to end the poem too severe on our adorable “Bear Twosome” lol. Softy aren’t I?
I should also add here that I had another excellent collecting day for H 4 Heroes at Tesco Langney last week, with their lovely and helpful team, so more money was raised and I sold some books there too. All good stuff as my “Poetry World”” continues to flourish…
Talking of flourishing I am now well under way on my 14th book, in only ten years, hence this Blog slightly delayed, BUT Hey Ho even I cannot do it all at once, but lol I DO try.
Having mentioned my books, there is a comprehensive list of them all on my (recently updated, thanks James Harvey) website, so have a peep on =
As usual thanks to everyone for support, including unknown people who come up to me and kindly give compliments and encouragement, always nice, and two “regulars” I see, so Izzy, who looks after me in The Italian Cafe, and Julian who pleasantly, but not personally, takes my money, but both always great to chat too.
JOKE TIME =
- Do teddy bears have their pick nicked?
- When Trump was shot at the security shouted Donald Duck
- When steam fades it is really missed
Last poem today and a highly popular poem called “Kiss” that I wrote about 2015, but is always well received when I read poem, including it being read out on Magic FM by Lyn Parsons a while ago.
Kiss
A quiet, simmering, burning fuse
Maybe oh so easy to miss,
As with a soft awakening
To someone you’d love to kiss.
So the signs of any recognition
Or consent given from your muse,
Are sought for their confirmation
You are the one they choose.
Thus with heartbeats all a flutter
You slowly pucker up to brush,
That alluring sirens ready mouth
As you prepare to make them blush,
With that soft sweet sensation
Now blowing bubbles on your lips.
So you lean closer in together
Lest this precious moment slips.
Eyes tight shut to keep out the world
From your very own embrace,
Your bodies pulse fast and close
So you are now lost in space.
With bright stars and planets forming
Brilliant lights across the sky,
And transform your understanding
That you’ve just learnt to fly.

Yes, and we all love a kiss so nice way to bow out of this blog as The Journey Continues HITTING TARGETS,
Love, light and Peace.
