More? More?, MORE ?? A bit like the famous line “Please sir can I have some more?” from that great movie and show Oliver, “I” am being asked for more, am having more and am enjoying getting back to a “more” usual or normal world! Yay, wonderful..
To explain that lead-in, I am being asked to do more gigs, and events, am getting much more involved in my “Poetry World” and that is all making me far happier (if possible) than before. So yes, more is very good, and may it continue as it gets more money for Help for Heroes the charity I promote, support and donate to.

First poem can only be the promotional one on the last page of most of my books now, and of course is called, “More?”.

More?

I hope that you enjoyed this book

For I tried to pack lots in,

With various themes in sections

So you can choose where to begin,

And take yourself on journeys

Or if you wished to, just remain.

For I have other books out now,

Thus you can have it all again.

With poems to make you romantic

And some verses if you feel deep.

Others will make you look back on life,

Even smile when you go to sleep.

Of course Ted and Beth will feature

I can hardly leave them out.

As surely they’ll have new adventures,

Well of this I have no doubt!

And I will have new observations

I glean from scanning life’s tree.

Take care then you are not included

When I write down what I see.

So please look at my other books

And support “Help for Heroes” too,

For all my sales donate to them

From my poems I write for you.

You can get books from my website online

And to message me direct will be fine.

With every contact listed below

Including all that you need to know,

To search for me on the Amazon club

Or just come and find me down the pub!

A bit of an advert there but I couldn’t ignore that title as it fits so aptly, well lol more or less?

As part of my involvements, I again did a slot at the growing Open Mic monthly evening at Eastbourne Boro Club 22nd July, and happy to report i was again very well received with a couple of “new poets” asking my advice, lol I wouldn’t as I buck trends, but seemingly successfully too, but I’m again invited back 19th of August.

By coincidence, like my first time there, I had done a gig in the afternoon, and this was once more “wonderful” as I read to a lively and positive group of mainly younger disabled folk who thoroughly enjoyed themselves at my slot, laughing and clapping in all the right, lol and occasional irreverent, moments, but a fantastic gig and crowd who are pleased that I’m booked back twice more already… Yes twice MORE (as nearly all of my gigs now).

Another poem and again I can’t resist this as the rest will come from my second book, “MORE Poetic Views of Life” published in October 2014, so here comes Round Trip.

Round Trip

Time moves on and passes by

As I look back down the years,

To see good times and heartache

But a lot more fun than tears.

We can’t always control our lives

And why our world has cracked,

But your manner and character

Are judged by how you react!

So looking back with a sadness

At the times you regret or lost,

Will only waste and frustrate

Time you already want to accost.

Thus best to count your blessings

And good things that you’ve got,

For even if you’re struggling by

To many others you’ll have a lot.

Time moves on and passes by

As I look back down the years,

To see good times and heartache

But a lot more fun than tears.

Of course trials and tribulations

Can easily make you go insane.

But when I’m due to pass away,

Please can I go round again?

Round trip then from “More”, and I hope my little more reminders are not falling on deaf ears, or causing offence to involve those literature police? Evening all!

A quick smile before we get to the jokes, is that on a recent trip to Windsor, very nice, I was joking with the Landlady about her age (remembering things) and bless her and not taking the wigwam (Tepee), she thought I was 58 … lol yeah, well not too far out, but look out for Wendy, Tinkerbell, or a pixie following me.

Farmers Food, meat and Craft market at Hailsham market Street this Saturday 13th August 9 -12, will see me with my kindly invited stall, thanks Ben, selling my books and collecting for Help for Heroes! Local young poppets Charlie & Lottie or even Henry “The First” please get your grownups along, and Ted & Beth will be pleased to say hello and even have a cuddle with you.

Another date to catch me and my poems, books, and H 4 H tin is The Incredible Cake Company 20, South Street Old Town Eastbourne 18th August from 1pm to 4pm. Be there or be square..

Poem again then and entitled “All or Something”.

All or Something

Life is a feast or famine

And never seems to even out,

Either all the land is flooding

Or we’re suffering a drought.

If you want to catch a bus

You are standing like a dunce,

Past your final waiting time

Then four will come at once!

Luck seems to be the same

You will get every call right,

Then quickly as it changes

You lose everything in sight.

Getting your finances done

Bills paid with money left,

When a run of expenses come

And all at once you are bereft.

Fishermen cast their bait

And the nets are filled tight,

But then there is a long time

With not one single bite.

Life is feast or famine

And never seems to even out,

Either all the world is flooding

Or we’re suffering a drought.

Is it a game that’s played

By angels and mascots creed?

That allows a win sometimes

Before stopping all our greed.

Perhaps it’s our perception

Of what we want to obtain.

But whatever does befall us

We must get back up again!

I still put that in although I am having more at the “morement” (clever that a?), moment!

JOKE TIME

*Did you know that a storm cloud has thunderwear on?

*If you want to try and hold a tree, best make it a Palm Tree I guess?

*A friend told me he was dating a twin, so I asked did he know the difference? He said yes Jane is tall and Mick has a beard!!!

Like the old pumpkin joke, I may have to wait for some to get that, like we used to have to wait for photos to come and be singing like the Princess, “Some day my prints will come” LOL, Oh please yourself then ha ha haaaa.

More information of events and “Ma Tings” in pipeline could include local paper again, Tesco collection, me going to Court (Pevensey Courthouse) etc, but “more” news next Blog, but with my happily increasingly requested gig bookings and my articles, now three a month, I have more (sorry) than enough to do, including meeting Ooooop with friends, and one (old schoolmate Donbo) coming to buy ALL of my eleven published books, YES the whole set, cheers man!

Ted & Beth have enjoyed their renewed fame of their new book AND meeting people again at all my gigs, and including having to sort out a little “bear spat” where Huskey managed to masquerade as Polar Bear and his poem “No More Polar Bear” (in T & B’s book) for a while before he was sussed.

Well, as I don’t have any more to say of interest at moment, I can always say more and enlarge, It is time to thank you all for continued support, compliments and encouragement etc before closing with regular “Romance Theme” poem for all you lovers, forgotten, active, would be or very happy, and this poem was one of my first of 6 in National Finals and published by Forward Poetry.

Eye Line Smile

It doesn’t take much to lift a heart

Or cause our head to swoon.

Just loving words or chaste kiss,

Can lift us round the moon.

Whether eyes are dark or light

They can twinkle and bewitch,

Causing a thrill right through you

As if someone clicked a switch.

Seeing can makes hearts flutter

With pulses racing with a touch.

There is no magic spell for this,

Just that we love so much.

Contented sighs descend on us

Like some heaven-sent cascade.

And nothing will keep us apart,

Even rivers, hill or barricade.

Any plain face can cause sunrise

When it breaks into a smile,

And when that beam is loving

Joy will fast flow like the Nile.

Whether eyes are dark or light

They can twinkle and bewitch,

And if they sparkle just for you

Your whole life will enrich.

For in a world that’s tough at times

Where you strive hard for reward,

Being drawn to loving eyes

May bring ecstatic life accord.
