Shining on is the title for this latest news blog as I am still managing to be shining on with my “Poetry World” that supports and donates to Help for Heroes. I put still managing as it is quite a task to keep all my various facets and activities spinning successfully at one time, a bit like a juggler really, but it happily seems to me that as one metaphoric spinning plate slows, another arrives to take over.
Explanations will follow, but before that here is the first poem in this blog and it comes from my fourth book “Life Scene in Verse”….
Only You
Most of the successful people you meet
Won’t have let grass grow beneath their feet.
But it’s not all about making money,
More of creating your world that’s sunny
And makes you smile across your ways,
And grin back at whatever days
Don’t sit well or rest with others,
For the fact is we’re not all brothers.
So get up and get your ideas on
For tomorrow they could all be gone,
And disappeared down the slippery slope
Leaving you frustrated without hope
That you can ever move yourself,
To gain prosperity and wealth.
But do not worry too much on this
For money is not the only bliss.
Now cast around this world of ours
Where a negative thought always devours,
But if you have your health and brain
There is little that can restrain
You from doing what you will,
Ensuring happiness soon must fulfil
Your heart and all you do,
For there’s no point in being blue.
So to just finish and be very exact
It all comes down to a simple fact.
And in this there’s no need for debate
That you can a success create.

Some advice there then for any believers of money growing on trees or that successful achievements drop into your lay. Possibly they may, but very rarely, so throw off the self doubting and get stuck in.
Meanwhile I have been ploughing on with my writing but with something of a handicap, which I will explain for I never put much out of a personal nature, but will say that for some time I have had restricted eyesight for reading and writing. I am having treatment for this and will be getting my results in about three weeks. In spite of this I continue to produce and publish my regular poems and article that get increasingly wonderfulcompliments, feedback and recognition. Of course my social media output promoting both myself and the excellent Help for Heroes continues too.
Additionally I am working on three commissioned wedding poems from Andy Kerr who is a brilliant and popular wedding photographer.
Second poem now, and another reasonably early one from me called “Thought Process”..
Thought Process
You can dress it up in fancy titles
As “life coaching” or “positive thought”,
But if you really make the effort
From your own brain can be wrought,
On motivation and the pathway
To achieve just what you will.
In your own chosen manner
With the necessary skill.
You can get bogged down of course
And not know what way to turn,
But by setting out your plan
It’s amazing what you can learn.
Though any wasting of your time
Seems to be a particular trap,
So awareness of any priorities
Will prevent a needless a flap!
But one thing I will acknowledge
As a tremendous help and view,
Discussing all with another
Is the best strategy for you.
Thus how to resolve problems
And to get your process done,
Will be helped in the resolving
For two heads must beat one!

JOKE TIME :-
  • When Moses makes tea Hebrews
  • Actors tell each other to break a leg as they’re in a cast
  • Average things are made in a satisfactory
  • The strawberry cried out when it realised it was in a jam!
Moving swiftly on from those little nuggets of humour, or perhaps not nuggets?
Among several recent requests for me to read out and entertain came an extremely kind review from a man who “chairs” a social group and wants me to present to his apparently quite large membership. He said he wasn’t a particular fan of poetry, but he saw a poem of mine in a local newspaper, was very impressed with it as “extremely deep and thought provoking”, so again I will say that if you don’t go fishing you won’t catch fish, or in this case, bookings and compliments.
All throughout me typing this blog our lovable but mischievous teddy bears, Ted & Beth have been waving furiously in case I forget to mention them and include one of their poems as I promised last News Blog. Relax bears as of course I’ve remembered and your poem is coming, entitled “Nimble Paws”, and while nearly all of my books have some of their poems in, this poem also features in their very own book “Tea for Two: Poetic Antics of Ted & Beth” that is really selling well.
Nimble Paws
Now despite being quite mischievous
Some things Ted and Beth keep quiet.
As they like to have some secrets
And not always want to run riot,
Or cause any playful chaos
That mostly they will do.
So I will whisper they like dancing
But that’s between me and you.
Thus Beth likes the slow sensual
Movements of the waltz,
While Ted loves the flamboyance
Of a dramatic dance of course.
So while Beth will slink around
With Ted counting one, two, three,
He much prefers the lively tango
And cavorts for all to see.
But naturally they have to practice
And that is how I caught them out,
Sneaking in to see unnoticed
Both Ted’s strut, and Beth’s pout.
Though I made sure I wasn’t caught
So can have another crafty look,
At those lovable, naughty bears
Learning their dancing from a book.
But meanwhile I love to tease them
And they don’t know what to say,
Because I creep up behind them
With a loud shout of “ole!”

Hopefully that has cheered up those bears, and maybe you too with their poem.
To finish my news I will say that I have recently been invited, and accepted, to go on a newer writers website called “The Write Site” where I now have already three of my poems and a bio featured. Yup shining away still…
Before conclusion I will say as usual a big thanks to everyone for reading and following, so bless you all.
Last poem, again as normal, is a romance section offering called “Desert” so hold on tight so not to burst your bubble….
Desert
A desert with its vast distances
Of desolation and lonely quiet.
Would seem to many undesirable,
But for me and you just right.
For I could have you all to myself
So not have to worry about others,
Who could perhaps discover us
And maybe blow our covers.
But I have special plans for you
My stunning and beautiful queen,
Who has put this magic spell on me
That I’d never before felt or seen.
So therefore I must act now
As you would desire me do,
Though I am finding it easier
For I have put my spell on you.
Thus together in our own desert
And alone beneath a sky of stars,
I can take you on ecstatic journeys
Soaring across both Jupiter and Mars,
Before fluttering back all a quiver
Across your entire being and soul.
For our desolate loving motions
Have made our bodies whole.
So indulge this sand-less desert
That will always be our own,
With you in captivating wonder
As you see how I have grown,
In my total devotion to you
When we are joined by all parts.
That gives constant bliss to make
Just one from our two hearts.
*
There you go then a quite hot one and possibly one to burst bubbles as I warned.
Many thanks again, and with love and light, regards,
Laurie xx
